A man solves a puzzle box and unleashes demons from another dimension who see pain as pleasure. Barker adapted his own novella and directed it himself.

How it was made

• The crew shot the house scenes largely in continuity. It was a real house, so walls and ceilings could not be removed.
• Lighting used units of 2K and below, plus many small lights that were hidden in the set.
• Reverse motion was used to give the skeleton flesh and inner organs.
