A former pilot turned farmer joins a last-chance mission through a wormhole to find a new home for humanity. It's a space epic with a family drama at the center. The biggest swings are practical: real locations, real sets, and as little CGI as Nolan could manage.

How it was made

  • Van Hoytema retooled an IMAX camera so it could be handheld for interior scenes.
  • Some sequences were shot with an IMAX camera in the nose cone of a Learjet.
  • The effects were created first and shown on projectors behind the actors.
