Three student filmmakers go into the Maryland woods to document a local legend and are never seen again. The film is presented as their recovered footage.

How it was made

  • The three actors shot all the footage in the film, except one interview about Rustin Parr's murders. They worked with hand-held cameras.
  • Most of the film was shot in Seneca Creek State Park in Maryland. A few scenes were shot in the town of Burkittsville, and the last scenes at the Griggs House.
  • The film mixed two formats. The cinematographer supplied a CP-16 film camera, and the found footage was shot on a Hi8 camcorder.
